Per-Person Threshold Raised to $189

If your state or tribe has a major disaster declared in 2026, FEMA set the statewide per capita qualifying indicator at $189. That $189 figure is used to recommend raising the Federal cost share for eligible emergency and permanent work from 75% up to not more than 90%. This rule applies to disasters declared on or after January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, and reflects a 2.7% CPI increase for the 12 months ending December 2025.
