Published Date: 4/30/2026

Notice

Summary

Nasdaq ISE is updating its Short Term Options rules to clearly explain how Monday and Wednesday options work when a company announces earnings after the market closes. This change helps traders understand when these special options expire and keeps everything running smoothly. The update is effective immediately and mainly affects traders dealing with short-term options around earnings announcements.

Rule Codified for Short‑Term Options

Nasdaq ISE formally adopted its existing practice on April 24, 2026 so members know how Monday and Wednesday short‑term options for qualifying stocks and ETFs will be handled around after‑hours earnings. This codification tells traders what to expect about listing availability and treatment of those expirations.

Monday/Wednesday Expirations Blocked After After‑Hours Earnings

For qualifying individual stocks, the Exchange will not list a Monday or Wednesday short‑term option expiration on a day when an Earnings Announcement will occur after market close. If such an expiration is already listed and an Earnings Announcement is made after listing, the Exchange will either delist that expiration if there is no open interest or, if there is open interest, designate that expiration as 'closing only.' An "Earnings Announcement" includes official quarterly or yearly earnings filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
