Treasury Collects Contractor Records
If you are a current or former contractor for the Department of the Treasury, the Treasury is creating a new system called "Treasury .030--Contractor Workforce" that will collect and keep your contractor information. Records may include full legal name, employer, PIV card information, contract number, contract period, labor category, work email and phone, work location, and hours. The system is effective upon publication (April 30, 2026) and routine uses are applicable on June 1, 2026 unless changed after comments.
Records May Be Shared Outside Treasury
Treasury may disclose records from this Contractor Workforce system to outside parties for specific purposes. Examples in the notice include the Department of Justice, federal/state/local/foreign law enforcement or licensing bodies, other agencies for audits or breach response, contractors who process the records, and the National Archives and Records Administration.
Security, Storage, and Retention Rules
Treasury says records will be stored electronically in secure facilities, encrypted at rest and in transit, kept in buildings with 24-hour security, accessed only by authorized users, and logged for audit. Records will follow NARA retention schedules and are being treated as permanent until a new schedule is approved.
