Paperwork Relief for Small Businesses
The FCC is asking for public comment on ways to reduce paperwork burdens under the Paperwork Reduction Act, and specifically to further reduce the information-collection burden on small business concerns with fewer than 25 employees. Comments are requested by July 6, 2026.
FCC Form 605 Filing Burden and Cost
If you apply for Ship, Aircraft, Amateur, Restricted/Commercial Operator, or General Mobile Radio Service licenses you must file FCC Form 605; the notice states there are 130,000 respondents/responses, an estimated 0.17–0.44 hours per response, a total annual burden of 57,218 hours, and total respondent cost of $4,550,000. Responding is required to obtain or retain the licensing benefit.
Date-of-Birth Redaction for Commercial Licensees
The FCC collects Date of Birth for commercial operator licensees on FCC Form 605, and the notice states that the Date of Birth information will be redacted from public view.
