Written Agreements for Ship Radio Use

Under OMB Control No. 3060-0297 (Sec. 80.503), private coast or marine utility station licensees who install ship radio stations on commercial vessels must have a written agreement, keep a copy with station records, and make it available for FCC inspection. The FCC estimates 100 respondents, 16 hours per response, and a total annual burden of 1,600 hours.

FCC Seeks Comments on Paperwork

The FCC is asking the public and businesses to comment on information collections under the Paperwork Reduction Act and requests suggestions to reduce burden, including on small businesses with fewer than 25 employees. Written comments must be submitted on or before June 29, 2026.

Shipboard Equipment Recordkeeping Rule

Under OMB Control No. 3060-0264 (Sec. 80.413), licensees of on-board stations must keep equipment records showing ship name and station ID, number and type of repeaters and mobile units, and dates equipment is added or removed. The FCC estimates 1,000 respondents, 2 hours per response, and a total annual burden of 2,000 hours.

Petitions for Reconsideration Burden

Under OMB Control No. 3060-0560 (Sec. 76.911), petitions for reconsideration of certification and related oppositions/replies require preparation by cable operators, competitors, and some governments. The FCC estimates 15 respondents, 25 responses, 2–10 hours per response, and a total annual burden of 130 hours.
