Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Eligibility Expanded to 150% Poverty

The PY2026 appropriation includes language expanding NFJP eligibility to farmworkers who are in families with total family incomes at or below 150 percent of the poverty line (rather than the previous standard tied to the higher of the poverty line or 70 percent of the lower living standard income level). This change affects who may qualify for NFJP career services and training.

NFJP PY2026 Funding Slightly Reduced

Congress provided $90,134,000 for NFJP formula grants for Program Year 2026, of which $89,405,000 is available after setting aside $729,000. The Department prorated state Career Services and Training allotments based on each state service area's PY2025 allotment percentage, producing a total decrease of $659,000 (−0.73%) compared to PY2025; these allotments are effective July 1, 2026.
