Scholar Payback and Work Requirement
Scholars who receive RLTT scholarships must work two years in qualifying public rehabilitation settings for every year of full‑time scholarship support. The PIMS system collects scholars' employment information, records employer and grantee verifications, and tracks funds owed if a scholar does not fulfill the service obligation.
PIMS Reporting: Who Must Submit
The Department of Education is proposing a revision to the Rehabilitation Long-Term Training (RLTT) Payback Information Management System (PIMS) information collection (OMB Control Number 1820-0617). Respondents listed include the private sector; State, local, and tribal governments; and individuals and households. The notice estimates 11,780 annual responses and 3,683 total annual burden hours and invites comments through June 10, 2026.
