Grants Focus on Students with Greatest Need
The program funds capacity-building services to state, regional, and local education agencies and schools to improve opportunities and student outcomes and to close achievement gaps, especially for groups of students with the greatest need. The FY 2026 competition includes six absolute priorities (National Center; Regional Centers; National Comprehensive Center on Improving Literacy for Students with Disabilities; Field-Initiated Content Centers; Emerging Needs Content Centers; Meaningful Learning Opportunities) and three competitive preference priorities (Returning Education to the States; Meaningful Learning Opportunities; Promoting Evidence-Based Literacy).

The Department of Education is accepting competitive grant applications for the FY 2026 Comprehensive Centers program. Complete proposals must be submitted through Grants.gov by 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 30, 2026.
Who Is Eligible To Apply
Eligible applicants include research organizations, institutions, agencies, institutes of higher education, partnerships among such entities, or individuals with demonstrated ability or capacity to carry out the activities. The notice also explicitly includes regional entities that carried out activities under the Educational Research, Development, Dissemination, and Improvement Act of 1994 and title XIII of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as eligible.
