Coast Guard Keeps Towing Paperwork

The Coast Guard plans to extend its existing information collection for towing vessels (OMB Control Number 1625-0117) without changing the rules. Owners and operators of towing vessels and third-party organizations must continue to provide information to show towing vessels meet the inspection requirements of 46 CFR Subchapter M; the collection is submitted on occasion.

Estimated Annual Burden Reduced

The Coast Guard’s estimated annual hour burden for this collection decreased from 127,729 hours to 112,368 hours per year, a reduction of 15,361 hours, due to a decrease in the estimated annual number of responses. This change affects owners and operators of towing vessels and third‑party organizations who are the respondents for OMB Control Number 1625-0117.
