Scholarship Recipients Must Join VA
The HPSP and VIOMPSP award scholarships to VA and non-VA employees who will be required to become VA employees in the profession for which they were educated. The programs were authorized under Pub. L. 111-163 and extended through December 31, 2033 by Section 301 of Pub. L. 115-182.
Forms Updated for VA Scholarships
The VA updated the VA Health Professional Scholarship Program forms (VA Forms 10-0491, 10-0491c-e, 10-0491g-k) to clarify instructions and add required Paperwork Reduction Act language. These changes are meant to make the paperwork clearer and easier for applicants to complete.
More Applicants and More Time Needed
The VA reports a higher estimated total number of respondents and time burden: Total Annual Number of Responses = 2,050 and Total Annual Time Burden = 8,017 hours. Specifically, HPSP shows 2,000 responses totaling 7,809 hours (average 3.905 hours per respondent) and VIOMPSP shows 50 responses totaling 208 hours (average 4.15 hours per respondent).
Two Pilot Programs Removed
Two pilot scholarship programs and their two associated forms have been removed from this information collection because those pilot programs ended since the last PRA clearance. The removal reduces the number of forms included in this OMB collection.
