Medicare limits telehealth for abortion pills
If enacted, Medicare could permanently bar providers who give abortion drugs unless strict in-person steps are followed. The provider would need to be a physician, examine you in person, be in the same room when you take the drug, and schedule an in-person follow-up within 14 days. The exclusion would apply to acts on or after the date of enactment. The bill would define "abortion-inducing drug" to include off-label uses and use the federal definition of "unborn child." For Medicare patients, this could reduce telehealth access to these drugs and may shrink the number of Medicare providers who offer them.
