Authorizes online delivery of the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program. This bill would allow MDPP to be delivered virtually and remove enrollment limits so more Medicare beneficiaries can access tested prevention services.

  • Medicare beneficiaries would be able to join MDPP remotely, expanding access to prevention programs for older adults. Individuals could re-enroll in MDPP an unlimited number of times.
  • Organizations that meet existing MDPP supplier rules could participate by offering only online MDPP using synchronous or asynchronous technology. Their administrative location would be the address on file under the Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program.
  • The Department of Health and Human Services would have to revise Medicare regulations by Jan 1, 2026 to permit online MDPP for the period Jan 1, 2026 through Dec 31, 2030, and the bill ties definitions to the 2023 final rule or successor regulations.

Online Medicare diabetes prevention and re-enrollment

If enacted, Medicare’s Diabetes Prevention Program could be done fully online starting Jan 1, 2026. HHS would need to change rules by Jan 1, 2026, and these options would run through Dec 31, 2030. Online-only suppliers would need to meet Medicare’s supplier rules, and their official address would be their CDC program address. Providers could bill Medicare even if you were in a different state during the session. During this period, there would be no limit on how many times you could enroll.
