Standard rules for VA suicide prevention programs

If enacted, the VA would have 180 days to set standard rules for suicide-prevention and mental-health grants and pilot programs. Programs would need clear, measurable goals and a data plan that covers what to collect, when, and how it will be analyzed. VA would share objectives and evaluation plans with partners during development, at least 30 days before start, and throughout the program. At the end, VA would evaluate results, check if lessons apply more broadly, and share best practices. These rules would apply to both new and existing programs.
