Pause EPA rules on power plants
If enacted, the EPA would be barred from enforcing rules that restrict the continuous, previously permitted operation of certain on-demand power plants. This would cover units on the bulk-power grid that can adjust output on demand, including steam units, integrated gasification combined cycle units, and stationary combustion turbines. The pause would last until the North American Electric Reliability Corporation rates every area as "normal risk" under its December 2023 long-term reliability report. This aims to protect grid reliability while that risk remains. The bill would also set definitions for who is covered and would take effect upon enactment.
