Sponsored By: Representative Del. Norton, Eleanor Holmes [D-DC-At Large]
Introduced
Summary
Allows the U.S. flag to be flown at half-staff when the Mayor of the District of Columbia dies. This bill would amend Title 4 of the United States Code, section 7(m), to add the Mayor of the District of Columbia to the list of officials whose death can trigger half-staff flag observance. The text inserts the Mayor into the same statutory language that currently covers Governors and other designated government officials.
