More Medicaid money for mental health and addiction
If you use Medicaid or CHIP, your state could get extra federal money for mental health and addiction care. The federal government would pay 90% of any increase in a state's quarterly spending above the same quarter in 2019. This would start for calendar quarters beginning on or after January 1 of the year that starts one year after enactment. To receive the funds, states would have to keep at least their April 1, 2021 funding levels and use the money to boost capacity, raise provider rates, and reduce staff turnover. HHS would say which services count within 180 days after enactment.
