Keep Social Security running during 2026 lapses
If enacted, the government would provide whatever funds are needed to keep the Social Security Administration running during any FY2026 funding lapse. The money would come from Treasury funds not otherwise appropriated. The SSA Commissioner would have to keep all normal work going, including answering Congressional offices. This aims to keep services like claims processing and help at field offices available during a shutdown.
