GRID Act
Sponsored By: Representative Van Drew
Introduced
Summary
Removes the federal EV charging program standard in the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA). The bill would repeal paragraph (21) of PURPA section 111(d) and make conforming changes to related provisions by repealing paragraph (8) of section 112(b), striking a sentence in section 112(c), repealing subsection (h) of section 112, and removing a date‑of‑enactment reference in section 124 so the statute no longer contains that federal EV‑charging directive.

End federal EV charging rule for utilities
If enacted, this bill would end the federal rule for utility EV charging programs. States and utilities would set their own policies without that federal standard. It would also remove related timing and prior state action clauses tied to that rule. This could lead to different charging prices, incentives, or access by state. Changes would take effect upon enactment.
