Colleges would share help for pregnant students
If enacted, colleges that take federal student aid would have to share clear info for pregnant students. This would also cover students who may become pregnant. It would apply to prospective and enrolled students, including part-time. Each enrolled student would get an email at least once each academic year. The info would also appear in handbooks, if any, and at every orientation. Schools would post it at student health or counseling centers, if any, and on the public website. It would list campus and local resources to help carry a baby to term and care for the baby after birth. It would explain available accommodations for pregnancy and parenting. It would explain how to file a Title IX complaint with the Department of Education. It would also explain how to file with the school if a student believes discrimination for choosing to carry to term. The Department of Education would not be allowed to require more information or new rights beyond this list.
