Limits telemedicine medication abortions
If enacted, this bill would ban medication abortions by telemedicine across state lines unless the provider examines you in person. The provider would have to be physically present where the drug is given. The provider would also need to schedule a follow-up visit within 14 days. Providers who knowingly break the rule could face up to a $1,000 fine, up to 2 years in prison, or both. A patient would not be prosecuted under this rule. There is an exception if the abortion is needed to save the mother's life. Treatment for a verified ectopic pregnancy would not be affected. The rule would take effect upon enactment if the bill were approved.
