New lawsuit rights for injured athletes

If enacted, female college athletes would be able to sue their college or an athletic association in federal court if the school negligently or recklessly allowed a biologically male student to compete in a women-only event and the female athlete was physically injured because of the male athlete's inherent physiological advantages. Plaintiffs could seek money damages, including the value of a lost scholarship or a lost professional opportunity. If a plaintiff wins, the court would have to award a reasonable attorney's fee to the prevailing plaintiff.
