Summary

Indexes a specified dollar amount in the Electronic Fund Transfer Act to inflation so the figure keeps pace with price changes. This bill would add an “Inflation adjustments” rule to 15 U.S.C. 1693o-2(a)(6) that directs the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System to adjust the named amount by the annual change in the Consumer Price Index for October. The first adjustment must happen by July 1, 2026. After that the Board would update the amount every January 15. Before the first scheduled annual update the Board would make a one-time increase equal to the change from October 2009 to October 2025 in the October CPI.
