Keep Gordie Howe Bridge Open

This bill would bar federal officials from blocking the Gordie Howe International Bridge from opening or operating. Federal agencies with jurisdiction would have to take all actions needed to open the bridge on time. They would also have to keep it in continuous operation by following federal staffing and operations models. Continuous operation would include the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Workforce Staffing Model. Closure would be allowed only if Congress approves or the Governor of Michigan requests it. Michigan or affected local governments could sue in federal court to compel compliance. If enacted, businesses, carriers, and travelers would face fewer delays or shutdowns.
