Credit Unions Get More Home Loan Access
This bill would make federal credit unions explicitly comparable to FDIC-insured banks under the Federal Home Loan Bank Act. It would insert "or Federal Credit Union Act" after "Federal Deposit Insurance Act" in the statute. If enacted, federal credit unions would be able to seek access to Federal Home Loan Bank liquidity and programs. That access would support mortgage lending in their communities. The change would take effect upon enactment and includes no new funding, phase-ins, sunsets, or added eligibility rules.
