Summary

Steer HUD housing grants to Qualified Opportunity Zones. This bill would let the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development give extra weight when awarding competitive housing grants to projects located in or substantially benefiting communities designated as Qualified Opportunity Zones under section 1400Z-1 of the Internal Revenue Code. Covered grants include competitive awards for construction, modification, rehabilitation, or preservation of housing as defined by HUD. The change would raise the odds that QOZ-linked housing proposals win federal grant support.

HUD housing grants favor Opportunity Zones
