  • Department of Veterans Affairs: The Secretary would have discretion to deposit reimbursements tied to 38 U.S.C. §1781 and §8111 into the Medical Care Collections Fund, with that authority expiring on September 30, 2028.

More recovered money for VA care

If enacted, this bill would let more recovered money count toward the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Care Collections Fund. It would allow recoveries under 31 U.S.C. sections 3711 and 3729–3733 and amounts recovered through administrative, legal, or judicial processes, including investigations and audits, to be counted — but only when the recovery is based on medical care, services, or medication provided or paid for under the VA medical care chapter. The bill would also let the VA Secretary, at the Secretary’s discretion, deposit reimbursements directed to the Medical Services account for care under 38 U.S.C. §1781 and §8111 into the Collections Fund. That discretionary deposit authority would expire on September 30, 2028.
