In-state tuition protection for Reservists
This law adds Selected Reserve (chapter 1606) beneficiaries and people entitled under 10 U.S.C. 16131 to VA's in-state tuition rule. The VA can disapprove public college courses if the school does not charge in-state tuition to students using those benefits. When VA disapproves a course, it cannot approve or certify that course for payment under the Selected Reserve program. If the school keeps charging nonresident tuition, you could lose VA education payments for that course. The amendments take effect on enactment and apply to academic periods that begin on or after August 1, 2026.
