Home telemental health help for rural residents
If enacted, the bill would create a federal grant program to expand home-based telemental health and substance use care for people in rural health professional shortage areas and for those who work in farming, fishing, or forestry. Grants would go to public or nonprofit telemental health provider networks, not to households. Grant money could pay for care in patients' homes, broadband access, patient devices, and providers' technology costs. The Secretary would report to Congress on quality and impact three years after the program starts and every two years after that. Up to $10 million could be allocated each year for fiscal years 2025 through 2029.
