More Medicare help for hospital training
This bill would let hospitals count more nursing and allied-health training costs as reasonable Medicare Part A costs. It would cover costs the hospital pays, costs allocated from related entities, contracted faculty fees, and shared services. The rule would apply to cost reporting periods beginning on or after the date of enactment. Beginning on the enactment date, HHS could not recoup or reduce Part A payments for these covered costs. HHS would have 120 days after enactment to issue rules. The bill would also require refunds for any Part A recoupments or reductions made in the six years before enactment.
