Claiming Age Clarity Act
Sponsored By: Senator Bill Cassidy
Introduced
Summary
Standardize retirement-age terminology across Social Security materials. This bill would require the Commissioner of Social Security to replace 'early eligibility age' with 'minimum monthly benefit age', rename 'full retirement age' and 'normal retirement age' to 'standard monthly benefit age', discontinue the term 'delayed retirement credit' and use 'maximum monthly benefit age' for references to age 70, and ensure all online and printed SSA rules, guidance, and materials reflect these substitutions by January 1, 2027.
