Colorado River Basin System Conservation Extension Act

Summary

Extends the Colorado River Basin System Conservation Pilot Program. This bill would reauthorize and extend Bureau of Reclamation pilot projects designed to increase water levels in the Upper Colorado River Basin and Lake Mead. It amends Section 206 of the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2015 by changing the cross-reference to point to the extension act and by updating two statutory dates from 2024 to 2026 and from 2025 to 2027, effectively adding two years to the program’s authorization.

Colorado River conservation program extended two years

This bill would extend parts of the Colorado River Basin System Conservation Pilot Program. It would change the year '2024' to '2026' in subsection (c)(2). It would change '2025' to '2027' in subsection (d). If enacted, this would keep those authorities in place two more years so conservation work and funding could continue in the basin. The changes would take effect upon enactment.
