- Workers and households: Participants who previously elected not to contribute can be treated as having made a contribution election again after 1 to 3 years unless they file a new election. This treatment may be applied at one time for a plan year to all affected employees.
- Employers and plan sponsors: Plans would be permitted to set a single termination date for those prior opt-outs for a plan year, creating a uniform reenrollment point for administration.

Re-enroll workers in auto retirement
This bill would let employers re-enroll workers into automatic retirement contributions after an opt-out. Re-enrollment could happen if the opt-out lasted at least 1 year and at most 3 years. After that, you would be treated as choosing the plan's default contribution rate unless you make a new election or opt out again. Employers could re-enroll all affected workers at once for a plan year. The bill would also require current employees to participate and let some previously disregarded workers be treated as having made the protective election. These rules would apply to plan years beginning after the date of enactment.
