Summary
Would extend the National Flood Insurance Program authorization and financing authority to September 30, 2026. The NFIP Extension Act would replace the September 30, 2023 date in two sections of the National Flood Insurance Act with September 30, 2026. If enacted after September 30, 2025, the bill would make those changes effective retroactively to September 30, 2025.

More time for federal flood insurance
If enacted, homeowners, renters, and small businesses could keep buying federally backed flood insurance through September 30, 2026. The bill would replace two statutory dates of "September 30, 2023" with "September 30, 2026." If the bill is enacted after September 30, 2025, the date changes would take effect as if they started on September 30, 2025.
