National plan to secure K-12 schools
This bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to make a national plan to secure elementary and secondary (K-12) schools from terrorism. The Secretary would send the plan to four Congressional committees within one year of enactment. The plan would list all federal programs, projects, activities, and related spending that help secure K-12 schools. The plan would identify security weaknesses, set goals to close them, and describe actions and resources to meet those goals. If appropriate, the Secretary would update the plan each year through 2033 and brief the same committees, or certify that no update is needed.
