Water Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability Act of 2026
Sponsored By: Senator Sen. Blunt Rochester, Lisa [D-DE]
Introduced
Summary
Extends authorization windows for federal water resilience programs through fiscal years 2027–2031. This bill would move three authorizations that now cover FY2022–FY2026 into a new FY2027–FY2031 window. It applies to the Clean Water Infrastructure Resiliency and Sustainability Program and two Safe Drinking Water Act resilience programs for midsize and large systems. The change is limited to lengthening the authorization period and leaves program rules, eligibility, funding, and enforcement as currently written.

Extend federal water resilience authorizations
If enacted, this bill would extend federal authorization for several water resilience and sustainability programs. It would replace "fiscal years 2022 through 2026" with "fiscal years 2027 through 2031" for the Clean Water Infrastructure Resiliency and Sustainability Program and two drinking water resilience programs. This would keep grant authority available to states, cities, public and tribal water systems, and project sponsors. The bill would not change who qualifies, funding levels, or program rules, and it would take effect upon enactment.
