Grants to fight spotted wing fly
This bill would create a Spotted Wing Drosophila Research and Mitigation Fund at the Department of Agriculture. The fund would be run by APHIS, which would pick eligible recipients and award grants or cooperative agreements and oversee the work. The fund would support research and on-the-ground actions to reduce damage from spotted wing drosophila to berries and other fruit crops. The bill would authorize $6.5 million for the fund in the fiscal year it is enacted and $6.5 million for each of the four fiscal years after that.
