Summary
This bill would require the Economic Research Service to produce a focused study of consolidation and concentration in the livestock industry. It would require ERS to publish a comprehensive public report no later than one year after the latest Census of Agriculture is made public.

- Farmers and ranchers would get a public analysis of changes in the size and location of farms and ranches and how those changes affect their finances, market entry, and access to processing.
- Processors and packers would have their facility locations and consolidation studied using Census data, Food Safety and Inspection Service inspection records, and Packers and Stockyards Division data. The report would separate beef into cow-calf and fed cattle operations and would not include confidential business information.
- Consumers and policymakers would receive analysis of downstream effects, including dietary impacts, to inform decisions about markets and food access.
