Summary
Abolish the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument. This bill would abolish the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument in California and bar the Secretary of the Interior from using any unobligated amounts previously appropriated to operate or maintain the Monument, except for amounts needed to carry out the abolishment. Any remaining unobligated amounts would be transferred and made available to carry out section 2 of the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000.

This bill would abolish the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument established by Presidential Proclamation 8884 on October 8, 2012. If enacted, the Interior Secretary would not be able to use any unobligated amounts previously appropriated for the Monument to run or maintain it, except to take actions needed to carry out the abolishment. Any such leftover funds would be transferred and made available to carry out section 2 of the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000 (34 U.S.C. 40701).
