GLRI Act of 2025

• Great Lakes communities: More predictable funding would support local cleanup, habitat restoration, and projects that help protect drinking water and recreation areas.
• State, tribal, and local partners: Grants and cooperative projects run by states, tribes, and nonprofits would have an extended funding authorization to plan and scale restoration work.
• Environment and economy: Increased authorization aims to reduce pollution, control invasive species, and improve habitat, which can benefit fisheries, tourism, and coastal resilience.

*Authorizes $500.0 million per year for FY2027–2031 for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and would allow that level of federal funding if Congress appropriates it.*
