Lump-sum GI Bill payments and deadlines

This bill would let some veterans who elect the option receive their Post‑9/11 educational aid as one lump-sum payment instead of monthly housing checks, if they meet the bill’s conditions and are not eligible for the monthly housing stipend under section 3313(c). The lump sum would be calculated by multiplying your total contributions (as described in the bill) by the number of months the bill counts for you. The VA would have to pay that lump sum no later than 60 days after you exhaust your entitlement to educational assistance. The bill would also require a related VA repayment action described in the statute to be done not later than 60 days after its triggering event. These changes would take effect on August 1, 2025.
