Sponsored By: Senator Rick Scott
Introduced
Summary
This resolution would designate April 2025 as Parkinson's Awareness Month to raise public attention and support research and care. Parkinson's disease affects over 1 million Americans with nearly 90,000 new diagnoses each year. It is the fastest-growing and second most common neurodegenerative disease and is projected to nearly double by 2037. Parkinson's is linked to genetic and environmental factors and costs at least $80 billion annually in the United States. The resolution supports awareness goals, continued research for better treatments and a cure, recognizes clinical trial participants, and commends organizations, volunteers, and caregivers.
