Condemning political violence, this Senate resolution denounces the June 14, 2025 attacks in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, Minnesota that assassinated Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman and critically injured State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette Hoffman. It honors Hortman's public service, praises the law enforcement officers whose rapid response saved additional lives and led to the suspect's arrest, and calls on elected leaders and all Americans to publicly reject violent rhetoric and reaffirm commitment to a safe, civil, and peaceful democracy.
