The law releases $52.5 million to the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority for the WWATERS Program. The money pays for named water and wastewater projects in specific communities. Examples include $12.563 million for Liberty’s wastewater plant; $6.472 million for Martin County Water District’s Davella pump and line; $6.597 million for Martin County Sewer District lift stations; $4.212 million to reduce Southern Water and Sewer District debt; and $2.0 million to extend a waterline and add a tank in Oak Grove. It also funds $3.295 million for Martin County Water District debt; $769,000 for its tank repairs; $965,000 for a KY 292 booster and line; $926,000 for Evarts’ water plant; $515,000 for City of Martin rehab; $3.107 million for Southern Water and Sewer mains; $901,000 for its tank; $1.165 million for Smithland water quality; $2.170 million for Martin County Sewer debt; $1.687 million for its Blacklog line; $3.864 million for Inez wastewater upgrades; and $1.296 million for Elkhorn debt. This funding improves water quality, reliability, and public health for local customers. The act takes effect immediately to speed awards.
