The law lets Freddy Castaneda of Haverhill take the civil service exam even if he is over the age limit. He must still meet all other hiring and certification rules to be certified and appointed to the Haverhill police department. This exemption applies only to him and does not change age rules for other applicants. The law takes effect upon passage.
