Driver ed must teach school bus safety

The law requires all approved driver education courses to teach school bus safety. Lessons must cover student crossing, school bus lights, and when drivers must stop for a stopped school bus. Teaching must explain how road layout affects those stopping rules. This applies to courses run by public schools, technical colleges, and private driver schools licensed by DOT. It first applies to courses that begin on the law’s effective date; classes already underway before that date are not covered.
