Financial literacy credit required to graduate
Wisconsin high school students must earn at least 0.5 credit in personal financial literacy to graduate. The course must cover financial mindset; education and employment; money management; saving and investing; credit and debt; and risk management and insurance. A school board can award the 0.5 credit for a program run by a financial institution through a branch located in a school. The student must complete it in the high school grades, and the board must decide it meets the state’s rules.
