New student device rules by 2026

The law requires every Wyoming school district to set rules for when and how students can carry and use cell phones and smart devices at school and during school activities. District boards must adopt these policies by July 1, 2026. Districts must send the policy to the state superintendent after first adoption and again whenever it is substantially revised. A smart device does not include a wearable that only tells time, tracks health information, or tracks location.
