Beginning July 1, 2026, you can get stem cell therapy in Wyoming even if the FDA has not approved it. It must use your own mesenchymal stem cells, and cannot use material from an abortion. A registered physician must treat you or directly supervise your care and have a real doctor‑patient relationship with you. The therapy must have approval from an institutional review board (IRB) or be an investigational drug, biological product, or device, and cells must meet current good manufacturing practices. You must sign written consent that explains the treatment, that it is not FDA‑approved, the risks and possible benefits, and that you are responsible for the cost. The state posts a public list of registered doctors.
Beginning July 1, 2026, state and local officials may not block a patient's access to covered stem cell therapy. The medical board cannot punish a registered doctor just for recommending or doing it when care meets medical standards. This law does not create new private lawsuits against people who follow the law and medical standards. Doctors may still give counseling and advice that follow accepted care.
Beginning July 1, 2026, your health insurer may choose to cover this stem cell therapy. Plans do not have to cover it. If your plan does not cover it, you pay the full cost. Coverage depends on your insurer and your specific plan.
