Higher assessments for irrigation upkeep

The state treasurer may invest these funds in local government investment pools.

Higher levy in water conservancy districts

Beginning July 1, 2026, water conservancy districts can add up to one (1) extra mill for major maintenance on aging irrigation infrastructure. The levy applies to property assessed by the district and is set separate from the county’s general levy. Money must go into a separate major maintenance account. The state treasurer may invest this account in local government investment equity pools.
