If a Ready Reserve member covered by section 10147 does not do the required yearly training well enough, the Secretary in charge can order them, without their consent, to do up to 45 more days of active training. If the failure happens in the member’s last required year, their Ready Reserve time is extended until they finish that extra training, but not for more than six months. If an Army National Guard or Air National Guard member misses their required yearly training, the Secretary can, at the request of the state’s Governor (or the DC commanding general), order them, without their consent, to do up to 45 days of extra active training. They will be ordered as a Reserve of the Army or a Reserve of the Air Force, as appropriate.
